Quick Angels update as we now reach May 10, 2002 in my replay. The Angels are off to a 24-10 start and are currently on a 7 game win streak. These numbers are a little deceiving though. The Angels are combined 14-1 against the AL East and the AL Central, however they have only played the bottom feeders of those divisions and have yet to play any playoff contending type teams from those divisions. Their record vs. the AL West which outside of Texas are all playoff contenders is a little different as they are 10-9 vs. the AL West including a 2-5 record vs. Seattle.

Adam Kennedy is on fire!
Adam Kennedy has come out of the gates en fuego. The Angels #9 hitters is slashing .371/.407/.600 with 5 home runs and 16 RBI, while playing solid defense at 2B. It’s unlikely he can sustain this but if the Angels can get this kind of production from the bottom of the order they will be in good shape.
Washburn a CY Young Candidate?
If the Cy Young was going to be voted on in May then Jarrod Washburn would be one of the favorites. Washburn has been the true ace of the Halos staff early in the season. He’s currently 6-0 and is sporting a 1.43 ERA. His advanced stats are off the charts. He’s held left handed batters to just a .192 average and right handers have had it even tougher hitting just .188 off of him

What’s going on with Troy Glaus?
The Angels young 3B Troy Glaus is really struggling to start the season, as .195/.329/.333 is not what the Angels were expecting from him. While he’s played outstanding defensively his lack of production at the plate (.662 OPS) has some wondering if the Angels will give him some time off to refocus on his game.
