Tim Salmon hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI at Edison Int'l Field as the Anaheim Angels beat the Toronto Blue Jays by the count of 7 to 1. Anaheim drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning plating 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits. David Eckstein led off and got things going when he ripped a base-knock. Two outs later Salmon came to bat and doubled. Troy Glaus then stroked a base-hit scoring two teammates. That early run support was all that Aaron Sele(1-1) required. Anaheim ended up with 13 hits for the game while Toronto had 9. Esteban Loaiza(0-4) was the loser. He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings giving up 7 hits and 1 walk.
